Copy Cat?

Ok, I've been wanting to do this top 5 whatever for awhile now. I stole/copied/borrowed the idea from my boy Abraham and his radio show on Soundwaves KPFK.

So I'm gonna do my Top 5 music downloads right now. It'll be an album, single or whatever and in no particular order.

1. Tanya Morgan - Brooklynati: For those of you that enjoy hippity hop, you will def enjoy this album. There's a feel to this album that I'm really diggin'. I'm getting the Camp Lo uptown feel, w/ a BK vibe and producer Von Pea keeps the album movin' well. Emcees Donwill and Ilyas delivery on the lp are smooth and fun, but they still keep their grimey attitude.

2. Drake - So Far Gone: No lie, I did not know who this kid was and nor did I even know he was on Degrassi (my girl likes the show). Anyways, this album is great. There's a versatility that I like about this guy. He rhymes and also sings...like actually sings unlike these other rappers trying to do the same. There's cameos from Weezy to Lykke Li to Bun B to Peter Bjorn and John to name a few. I think his array of cameos is what a lot of artists strive for; diversity.

3. Reverie Sound Revue - EP: My boy Will put me up on this group. I really like their sound because it kind of brings me back to my early college days. They kind of remind me a mix of Broken Social Scene and The Sea and Cake. I don't know too much about this group except the fact that they are a great band.

4. Tortured Soul - Introducing Tortured Soul: If you're a fan of the smoothed out type of house w/ some vocals here and there, this album is for you. The guys from Tortured Soul give you and urge to move you bones and fall in love w/ the person you're dancing with. Tortured Soul consists of 3 band members on vocals, keys, drums and bass. Live house music created by some guys from Brooklyn...get up and dance to this ya'll.

5. Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires: And last but not least, Friendly Fires. So far, this has got to be one of my favorite ablums of 2009 although it was released overseas in 2008. The energy that they bring in the lp is amazing and the music itself is heart pumping, new and fresh. Yes, they are your elctro/indie band from overseas, but for some reason they do not sound like their compatriots. I recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy some electro/indie/pop awesomness.
